Frequently asked questions
Where is my data stored?
For the purposes of the SheBuilds buildathon, everything you save stays in this browser, on this device. There is no account and nothing is sent to a server. Clearing your browser storage or site data will remove it, so treat it like a notebook that lives here.
What is the reflection time?
When you add an item, it sits in "Considering" for the reflection time you choose in Settings (48 hours by default). When the time is up, the item appears under "Ready to decide" on the Overview, where you can plan to buy it, keep thinking, or let it go.
What's the difference between Planned and Purchased?
"Planned" means you've decided the item is worth it and intend to buy it. "Purchased" means it's actually yours. Both count toward a wishlist's budget, so your budget reflects committed and spent money separately.
What does "Let go" do?
You can decide to let go of an item and not purchasing it if, after reflection, you realize you don't need it. The item leaves your active lists, and its price is counted in "Saved by letting go" on the Overview; a record of the spending you chose not to do.
Why can't I change a wishlist's currency?
Once a wishlist has items, its currency is locked so prices are never silently relabelled or converted. You can choose the currency freely while the wishlist is still empty, and set your default for new wishlists in Settings.
What does "Price I'd happily pay" mean?
It's your personal ceiling; the price at which the item would feel like a "hell yes". If the current price is above it, that may be an indicator to wait or reconsider. It's optional and never shared anywhere.
How does pasting a product link work?
Roopa tries to read the page's title, image, shop and price. Some shops block this kind of reading, so it doesn't always succeed but you can always fill in or correct the details manually. Data is not verified against the live shop afterwards, so treat extracted details as a starting point.
How does Compare work?
Open Compare, pick a wishlist, and tick 2 or 3 items. Roopa shows them side by side with your notes, pros and cons, and lets you mark a "Preferred choice". Marking a preference doesn't change an item's status; it's just meant to mark your leaning, saved for later.
Known limitations
- During the SheBuilds buildathon, your data lives only in this browser. It doesn't sync between devices or browsers, and clearing site data removes it.
- Prices and details read from product links are a snapshot and may be wrong or out of date - Roopa doesn't re-check them (for now!).
- Some shops block automatic reading entirely; in those cases you'll enter the details yourself.
- Roopa doesn't convert currencies to avoid conversion mitakes. Each wishlist keeps one currency, and totals are shown per currency.
